The practice follows the national policy for childhood immunisation. Further information can be found on the NHS Immunisation Schedule website.

Before bringing your child for an immunisation injection please check the following 6 points. If the answer to any of the questions is yes then please seek advice at the surgery:

  • Is your child suffering from any feverish illness?
  • Has your child ever had a fit or convulsion?
  • Is your child taking steroid treatments?
  • Does your child suffer from any disease affecting the immune system?
  • Does your child have a severe reaction to eggs?
  • Has your child had a serious reaction from a previous injection?

The currently recommended vaccination schedule is as follows (from 1/7/2013):


Under 5 year olds

Age Details
2 months 1st dose, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, HIB vaccine, 1st Pneumococcal vaccine and 1st Rotavirus vaccine.
3 months 2nd dose, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, HIB vaccine, 2nd dose Rotavirus vaccine and 1st dose Meningitis C vaccine.
4 months 3rd dose, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, HIB vaccine and 2nd Pneumococcal vaccine.
12 months Hib booster and 2nd Meningitis C (one vaccine)
13 months MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) and 3rd Pneumococcal vaccine.
3½ years 2nd MMR and diphtheria, tetanus, polio and pertussis booster


School age children
